STATEMENT OF BELIEFS ON MARRIAGE, SINGLENESS, FAMILY, AND SEXUALITY *

We affirm that marriage and the family are sacred institutions established by God. The ministry of Camp Oshkidee is to support the church as it celebrates and blesses marriage, family, and singleness, fostering an environment where families can grow in love and individuals are honoured, whether married or single. Marriage is viewed as a covenant relationship designed by God to unite a man and a woman for a lifelong commitment toward holiness and freedom. Its purpose, as intended by God, includes companionship, sexual union, and the nurturing of children (where able). Sexual intimacy is deemed appropriate only within the bounds of marriage, characterized by mutual love, faithfulness, and submission. Believers are encouraged to marry within their faith, and the community of faith actively supports marriages, seeking reconciliation in times of trouble. Although human sinfulness may lead to divorce, the church offers hope and healing while upholding the biblical ideal of marital faithfulness. Singleness is held in equal honour with marriage, and sometimes even preferred. The church blesses, respects, and fully includes those who are single, recognizing unique opportunities for individuals to declare and experience the kingdom of God. Regardless of marital status, all are called to live sexually pure lives. Family relationships, at every stage of life, are intended by God to be characterized by love and maturing in holiness. Children are acknowledged as a gift from God, and godly parents are entrusted with the responsibility of instructing and nurturing their children in the faith. We hold that God wonderfully creates each person as either male or female and his goodness gifts each one a physical body that is in alignment with that gender. Rejecting ones biological sex is a rejection of God’s gifts and the design he chose for his creation when he said of those that would bear his image that they would be male and female. Compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity must be afforded to every person, even when we disagree on foundational beliefs. We want to speak and live out God's truth in love, and any form of hateful or harassing behaviour is unacceptable. Camp Oshkidee's statement of faith acknowledges the Bible as the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, serving as the ultimate authority on truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind. The Board of Directors of Jeannette Lake Camping Association holds the final interpretive authority on the Bible's application for Camp Oshkidee's faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline.

STATEMENT OF FAITH *

The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God and are inerrant in the original writing and are of supreme and final authority in Faith and in Life. God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is truly God and man. Man is created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death which is separation from God and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and in the case of those who reach moral responsibility become sinners in thought, word and deed. The Lord Jesus Christ died for my sins according to the scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood. The resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. All who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God. The bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

CODE OF CONDUCT *

Oshkidee is a community of Christians who follow Jesus and pursue the mission of ‘expanding the kingdom of God, one camper at a time.’ As we lead in this mission, we agree with Christian beliefs based on our understanding of the Bible and commit to remain faithful to Christ in our daily conduct. While we hold ourselves accountable to these views, we are welcoming to any campers/individuals who do not agree with these statements. Therefore, I agree to pursue a Christian life as described: I am committed to nurturing a deep personal relationship with God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) as a consistent, continuing priority. I believe in the importance of whole person wellbeing: spiritual, physical, psychological, mental and emotional. I am committed to fostering personal wellbeing that sustains ongoing effective life and ministry. I am committed to a maturing disposition, attitude and speech exemplified in our daily lifestyle that is characterized by the fruit of the Spirit and godliness, such as: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, mercy, humility, thankfulness, purity, seeking and granting forgiveness, and truthfulness in all dealings. I believe and accept the Biblical instruction regarding the sacred trust of marriage and family. Therefore, I am committed to the sanctity of marriage and parental responsibility. At the same time, I affirm the value of all people, whether married or single. I believe that every person is made in the image of God and is to be treated with respect and dignity, and I commit to loving others as God loves us. As a member of the body of Christ, I am committed to consistently participating with my presence and active engagement in a local Christian church. As stewards of God’s creation and recipients of His material and financial blessings, I am committed to responsible stewardship and generosity. Consistent with Biblical principles and teachings, I am committed to careful discernment, integrity and godly discretion in such areas as entertainment, media, social networking, personal online accounts and electronic communications.
